1. Overview
Roommates Club collects and uses personal information to run the platform: reviewing applications and waitlists, creating and maintaining accounts and profiles, suggesting roommate matches, supporting communities, enabling communication between members where available, improving the website and product, sending service and product messages where appropriate, and helping keep the network safer and more intentional.
This Privacy Policy describes what we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. If you do not agree, please do not use Roommates Club.
Roommates Club is a roommate-finding and compatibility platform—not a housing marketplace, landlord, broker, or rental listing service.
2. Information You Provide

3. Information Collected Automatically
When you use Roommates Club, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical information, such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Device type, operating system, and browser type
- Pages viewed, referring pages, and how you move through the site
- Interactions with forms, ads, emails, buttons, and other features

We use this information to operate the service, understand product usage, measure marketing performance, improve reliability and security, and comply with law where required.
4. Sensitive Information
Some information you choose to provide—such as gender, profile photos, student status, languages, lifestyle-related roommate preferences, or other profile details—may be considered sensitive or receive special protection under certain privacy laws, depending on where you live.
You decide whether to provide this information when the product asks for it. We use it to support roommate matching, applications, communities, and a better-organized search experience—not to collect sensitive data for its own sake.
If you have questions about what is optional or how to update your profile, you can contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
5. Biometric Data and Optional Verification
We do not currently collect biometric data.
If we add optional identity verification or biometric-based verification in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required notices or consent options before collecting that information.
6. How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve Roommates Club
- Review applications and waitlists and manage access
- Create and manage profiles and accounts
- Provide roommate matching and periodic or daily match experiences where available
- Recommend users, groups, or communities you may want to explore
- Personalize what you see in the product
- Enable messaging, community features, and notifications you choose to receive
- Send service messages, account updates, and (where allowed) product updates or marketing you can opt out of when that applies
- Understand interest by city or region and plan product improvements
- Detect fraud, spam, abuse, or unsafe behavior, and protect the security of the platform
- Comply with legal obligations
- Evaluate or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets involving Roommates Club
We aim to collect what we reasonably need for these purposes and to be transparent as features grow.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us host the website, store data, send email, run analytics, measure advertising, provide customer support, operate forms, improve security, detect fraud, or deliver other parts of the service
- Analytics and advertising partners (such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, or similar tools) to understand performance and improve marketing, where we use those tools
- Other members, when you choose to show information on your profile, in communities, in matches, in messages, or through other features that make content visible to others
- Professional advisers, regulators, or law enforcement when required by law or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the platform
- Parties to a business transaction if Roommates Club is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets—user information may be transferred as part of that process
Some privacy laws may define certain advertising, analytics, or cross-context behavioral advertising activities as "sharing," "targeted advertising," or "sale," even when no money is exchanged. Where required, you may have the right to opt out of those activities.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to keep Roommates Club working, remember preferences where helpful, understand how the product is used, measure ad performance, and improve pages and flows.
Third-party tools may include, for example, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, or comparable providers.
You can control many cookies through your browser settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional choices about analytics or advertising.
Where required by law, we will request consent before using certain non-essential cookies, pixels, analytics tools, or advertising technologies.
9. International Users
Roommates Club may be accessed from different countries. If you use the service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States, the United Kingdom, or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
Privacy laws vary by location. Where we need to provide extra safeguards or choices for certain regions, we will work to do so in line with applicable law.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or opt out of certain uses of your personal information, including some advertising or analytics activities.
To make a request, email us at contact@roommatesclub.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding to certain requests.
If we decline a request where the law allows, we will explain our reasoning where we are permitted to do so.
11. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed to operate Roommates Club, review applications, maintain accounts, provide matching and community features, improve the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and protect safety and security.
If you ask us to delete your information, we will delete or de-identify it unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or legitimate business reasons.
12. Profiles, Communities, and Visibility
Information you place on your profile or share through communities, matches, messages, or other interactive features may be visible to other users depending on the feature and your settings.
Please share thoughtfully. Do not post information you are not comfortable having other members see. Roommates Club is designed to create a more intentional roommate network, but we do not control what people do with information they receive on or off the platform.
13. Age Requirement
Roommates Club is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we may delete that information and restrict access.
14. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.
No website or online service is completely secure. Please use good judgment when sharing information and report concerns to us if something feels off.
15. Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Roommates Club changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice on the website or by email where that makes sense.
