Terms of Service

By providing your contact information and selecting "Next," "Continue," or a similar button to proceed with an application, sign in, create an account, or otherwise access Roommates Club, you agree to these Terms of Service and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

You also agree to these Terms when you continue using Roommates Club after being presented with them through another account or service flow.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not proceed or use Roommates Club.

You may use Roommates Club only for yourself unless we expressly authorize you to act on behalf of another person or organization.

We may require you to review and accept updated Terms before continuing to use Roommates Club when changes materially affect your rights or obligations.

Roommates Club is a roommate-discovery, compatibility, and communication platform.

Depending on availability and membership status, Roommates Club may provide applications and waitlists, member accounts, profiles, roommate suggestions and matching, search and discovery tools, communities or groups, member-to-member messaging, notifications, safety and reporting tools, and other related features.

Roommates Club is designed to help people make introductions. It does not replace your own judgment, investigation, due diligence, or professional advice.

We may make Roommates Club available in selected cities, regions, or countries. Availability in a location does not mean that every feature or sufficient number of members will be available there.

Roommates Club is not a landlord, property owner, housing provider, property manager, real estate broker or agent, leasing service, rental listing marketplace, tenant-screening service, consumer-reporting agency, background-check company, payment or escrow provider, insurer, guarantor, or party to a housing transaction.

Roommates Club does not own, manage, inspect, lease, or control housing; guarantee that a property exists or is available; verify a person's authority to rent or sublet a property; negotiate rent or lease terms; collect rent or security deposits for users; make tenant-selection decisions for landlords; determine eligibility for a particular property; draft or approve leases or roommate agreements; guarantee another user's identity or background; or guarantee the safety, compatibility, honesty, or future conduct of any person.

Roommates Club is not a party to any lease, sublease, tenancy, roommate agreement, payment, deposit, property viewing, or other arrangement between users or third parties.

To use Roommates Club, you must be at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, use Roommates Club only for lawful purposes, provide accurate and current information, not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law, and comply with these Terms and any policies incorporated into them.

Roommates Club is designed primarily for adults navigating relocation, education, employment, and shared-living transitions. This description does not create an entitlement to membership or limit Roommates Club to a particular age group beyond the 18-year minimum.

We may request reasonable information to confirm age, account ownership, eligibility, or authenticity. Unless we expressly state otherwise, this process is not a government-identity verification or background check.

You may be required to provide both a valid telephone number and email address to apply, create an account, authenticate, recover access, or receive important service communications.

You agree to maintain accurate account information; maintain control of your telephone number and email account; protect authentication codes and account credentials; never share a one-time verification code with another person; prevent unauthorized access to your account; use only your own genuine account; avoid creating duplicate, deceptive, or unauthorized accounts; and promptly notify Roommates Club of suspected unauthorized access.

You are responsible for activity conducted through your account before you notify us of unauthorized access, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

We may require reauthentication, terminate active sessions, temporarily restrict access, or take other reasonable security measures.

Accounts may not be sold, transferred, licensed, rented, or shared.

Roommates Club may use an application, waitlist, referral, invitation, or approval process.

Submitting information does not guarantee acceptance, placement on a waitlist, a particular review time, access to a specific city, continued membership, matches, or access to every feature.

Applications are currently reviewed with meaningful human involvement.

We may use software and administrative tools to organize applications, identify incomplete or inconsistent information, detect duplicate or fraudulent activity, prioritize review, and flag potential security or safety concerns.

Roommates Club may accept, waitlist, decline, suspend, or terminate an application or membership based on lawful considerations reasonably related to age eligibility, application completeness, authenticity, safety, fraud prevention, platform integrity, supported locations, platform capacity, community standards, prior misconduct, and compliance with these Terms.

A membership decision is a decision about access to Roommates Club. It is not a determination of your eligibility for any property, lease, tenancy, or housing opportunity.

Where required by law or reasonably appropriate, we may provide a general explanation or opportunity to request review. We are not required to disclose confidential security methods, fraud signals, internal deliberations, another person's information, or information whose disclosure could create safety or legal risks.

Approval means only that an application satisfied Roommates Club's membership process at the time it was reviewed. Approval is not an endorsement, background check, safety certification, identity guarantee, or guarantee that information supplied by the applicant is accurate.

You are responsible for information you submit through an application, profile, message, report, or other feature.

You agree that your information will be accurate to the best of your knowledge, current, not materially misleading, submitted for a genuine purpose related to Roommates Club, and consistent with these Terms.

Your profile may include information such as name or display name, age or age range, photographs, current and intended location, moving timeframe, housing budget, education or professional information, biography, interests, lifestyle and household information, roommate preferences, languages, social links, and other information relevant to roommate discovery or compatibility.

Roommates Club may add, remove, reorder, or revise application and profile questions over time.

You must not submit another person's private information without authorization or a reasonable lawful basis.

Do not place financial credentials, government identification numbers, medical records, passwords, authentication codes, or other unnecessary sensitive information in a profile or message.

Roommates Club may generate matches, recommendations, rankings, communities, or other discovery results using information such as location, moving timeframe, housing budget, profile information, household and lifestyle preferences, interests, availability, product activity, platform capacity, and other compatibility or administrative criteria.

Recommendations are informational suggestions only.

Roommates Club does not guarantee a minimum number of recommendations, that every relevant member will be shown, that a recommendation is accurate, that two people will be compatible, that another user will respond, that any person has housing available, that a housing arrangement will result, or that any interaction will be safe or successful.

Matching methods, ranking factors, and product presentation may change as the service develops.

You remain solely responsible for deciding who to contact, meet, trust, or live with.

You must comply with all applicable fair-housing, civil-rights, consumer-protection, public-accommodation, and nondiscrimination laws.

You may not use Roommates Club to publish unlawfully discriminatory content; exclude or target people in a manner prohibited by applicable law; harass or demean someone based on a protected characteristic; circumvent laws governing rental advertisements or housing availability; disguise a landlord, broker, property manager, or tenant-screening activity as a roommate search; screen housing applicants on behalf of a landlord or housing provider; or retaliate against someone for reporting suspected discrimination.

Certain preferences involving genuinely shared living arrangements may be treated differently under particular laws and jurisdictions. Roommates Club does not determine whether a particular preference, statement, advertisement, or decision is lawful.

You are responsible for obtaining legal advice when the legality of a housing-related preference or decision is uncertain.

Roommates Club may remove content or restrict activity that we reasonably believe violates applicable law, these Terms, or the integrity of the service.

You agree not to impersonate another person; use false, stolen, or misleading photographs; misrepresent your identity, age, intentions, housing situation, or authority; create fake or duplicate accounts; harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or abuse another person; engage in hate speech or unlawful discrimination; send unsolicited sexual content; exploit, threaten, or sexually harass another person; share nonconsensual intimate material; publish another person's private information; commit or facilitate fraud, scams, theft, or deception; request or send money under false pretenses; use Roommates Club for prostitution, trafficking, exploitation, or other illegal activity; buy, sell, or facilitate illegal drugs, weapons, or prohibited goods; spam users; conduct unauthorized advertising, recruiting, solicitation, or lead generation; scrape, crawl, copy, harvest, or systematically collect member information; build an external member database; use member information for surveillance or unauthorized background investigations; use Roommates Club content or data to train an artificial-intelligence model without written permission; upload malware or malicious code; interfere with security, authentication, or access controls; reverse engineer or attempt to discover source code except where a legal right cannot be waived; circumvent a suspension, block, or membership restriction; sell or transfer access to an account; use Roommates Club as an unauthorized rental marketplace; use the service to screen tenants on behalf of a housing provider; or encourage another person to violate these Terms.

We may investigate suspected violations and take reasonable enforcement action.

Messages are sent to their intended recipients and are not public.

You understand that recipients may save, copy, photograph, or redistribute messages; deleting your account may not delete copies already delivered to another user; Roommates Club cannot control how recipients use information they receive; and messages should not be assumed to be end-to-end encrypted unless we expressly say otherwise.

Roommates Club may access or process messages and related information when reasonably necessary to deliver messages; provide conversation history; investigate reports; address harassment, fraud, threats, or abuse; provide support; enforce these Terms; protect users; maintain security; and comply with law.

Roommates Club may provide tools that allow users to report a profile, report a message, block another member, contact support, and request review of certain enforcement decisions.

We may review, restrict, preserve, or remove content and accounts, but we are not required to proactively monitor every profile, message, or interaction.

Moderation and reporting systems reduce risk but do not guarantee that all harmful, false, illegal, or objectionable activity will be detected or prevented.

You must not knowingly submit a false or malicious report.

Interactions with people met online involve risk.

Before meeting someone, viewing a property, signing an agreement, or sending money, you should independently evaluate the person and situation.

You should consider communicating through Roommates Club initially; meeting in a public place first; telling a trusted person where you are going; independently confirming identity; independently confirming a person's authority to rent or sublet; personally viewing a property; reviewing leases and roommate agreements; checking applicable occupancy and subletting requirements; avoiding transfers of money before verification; avoiding disclosure of financial credentials or identity documents; seeking legal, financial, or housing advice when needed; and contacting emergency services when immediate danger exists.

Roommates Club does not supervise offline meetings or housing arrangements.

Roommates Club may, but is not obligated to, contact law enforcement, emergency services, service providers, or other appropriate parties when we reasonably believe disclosure is legally permitted and necessary to address an imminent threat, suspected crime, fraud, or serious safety concern.

You are solely responsible for evaluating potential roommates; confirming important information; inspecting housing; confirming ownership or authority to rent; reviewing and negotiating agreements; determining affordability; paying rent, deposits, utilities, or other costs; complying with lease and subletting rules; understanding tax, insurance, occupancy, and legal consequences; resolving disputes; and obtaining professional advice.

Any lease, roommate agreement, payment, promise, representation, or other arrangement is solely between the relevant users and third parties.

Roommates Club is not responsible for property conditions; housing availability; lease terms; deposits; rent; damage; theft; eviction; personal disputes; misrepresentations by users; unauthorized subletting; discrimination by another person; or the acts or omissions of landlords, brokers, property managers, roommates, or other third parties.

Nothing on Roommates Club constitutes legal, financial, tax, insurance, real estate, or housing advice.

"User Content" means information or material you submit to Roommates Club, including profile information, photographs, biographies, preferences, messages, attachments, reports, feedback, and other submitted material.

You retain ownership of your User Content.

You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to submit it, its submission and permitted use will not infringe another person's rights, it is not unlawful, it is not materially deceptive, and it complies with these Terms.

License to operate the service

You grant Roommates Club a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host; store; process; reproduce for technical purposes; format; transmit; display to authorized users; moderate; secure; back up; and otherwise use User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, support, protect, and improve Roommates Club.

This license permits us to use service providers that process User Content on our behalf.

The license does not give Roommates Club ownership of your User Content.

We will not use your private messages, name, profile photograph, or personal story in public advertising without separate permission.

The license generally ends when the User Content is deleted or your account is closed, except content delivered to another user may remain available to that user; copies may remain temporarily in backups; content may be retained for safety, fraud prevention, disputes, legal obligations, or enforcement; de-identified or aggregated information may be retained; and rights reasonably necessary to complete an existing use or resolve a legal matter may continue.

Feedback

If you voluntarily provide ideas, suggestions, or feedback about Roommates Club, you grant us permission to use that feedback without restriction or payment.

This does not give us ownership of your confidential information, unrelated work, or inventions that you did not submit as product feedback.

Roommates Club respects intellectual-property rights.

If you believe content on Roommates Club infringes your copyright, send a written notice to:

The notice should include your physical or electronic signature; identification of the copyrighted work; identification and location of the material you believe is infringing; your name, address, telephone number, and email address; a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.

We may remove or restrict allegedly infringing material and notify the person who submitted it.

We may terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe intellectual-property rights.

Submitting a knowingly false infringement claim may create legal liability.

Roommates Club and its licensors own all rights in the service other than User Content, including software, source and object code, product design, interfaces, graphics, text, databases, matching and ranking systems, logos, trademarks, trade dress, and other proprietary materials.

Subject to these Terms, Roommates Club grants you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to access and use the service for its intended purpose.

This license does not permit you to copy or resell Roommates Club, use our branding without permission, create a derivative or competing service using Roommates Club content or data, frame or mirror the service, remove proprietary notices, scrape member profiles, commercialize access, reverse engineer the service except where prohibited from restricting that right by law, or use Roommates Club intellectual property outside the service without written permission.

No rights are granted except those expressly stated in these Terms.

Roommates Club may contain links to, communicate with, or rely on third-party services, including social media platforms, authentication providers, hosting services, communications providers, mapping services, analytics providers, advertising platforms, payment providers, app stores, and external websites.

Third parties may have their own terms and privacy practices.

Roommates Club is not responsible for an independent third party's products, services, content, availability, or conduct. This does not limit Roommates Club's responsibility for its own conduct, representations, or legal obligations.

A link or integration does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.

By providing an email address or telephone number, you agree that Roommates Club may send communications reasonably necessary to authenticate your account, deliver one-time verification codes, recover account access, administer your application or waitlist status, notify you of messages or matches, provide security or safety alerts, respond to support requests, provide transactional information, announce material policy or service changes, and meet legal obligations.

Message and data rates imposed by your carrier may apply.

Marketing emails or promotional text messages will be sent only where permitted and, where required, after separate consent.

You may opt out of marketing communications using the instructions provided in the message. Opting out of marketing does not prevent necessary service, authentication, safety, transactional, or legal communications.

Roommates Club may offer free and paid features.

Before charging you, we will disclose applicable information such as price, currency, taxes, what the purchase includes, duration, whether the payment is one-time or recurring, cancellation terms, refund terms, and any additional purchase conditions.

Roommates Club will not impose a recurring charge without presenting the recurring nature of the charge and obtaining the authorization required by applicable law.

Purchases made through an app store may also be governed by the app store's payment and refund rules.

Except where required by law or stated at the time of purchase, fees are nonrefundable once the applicable paid feature has been provided or activated.

We may change prices or introduce paid features prospectively. We will not charge you merely because a previously free feature becomes paid.

Roommates Club may add, remove, modify, pause, or discontinue features, application questions, profile fields, matching systems, communities, supported locations, eligibility requirements, access levels, and free or paid offerings.

We may make changes for business, technical, legal, security, safety, or product reasons.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

We may temporarily restrict access for maintenance, security, system failures, vendor outages, legal requirements, safety concerns, and other operational reasons.

Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice of material changes that significantly reduce an existing paid service or materially affect member rights.

You may stop using Roommates Club at any time and may request account deletion through the controls we provide or as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate an application, account, feature, or membership when we reasonably believe that these Terms were violated; information is materially false or misleading; an account is fraudulent or unauthorized; a user presents a safety or security risk; a user has harassed, threatened, or harmed another person; activity violates applicable law; a user circumvents enforcement; continued access creates material risk to the service or community; payment fraud occurred; a valid legal request requires action; and the service or relevant feature is discontinued.

We may take immediate action without advance notice when reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, imminent harm, security threats, legal obligations, or serious misconduct.

Where required by law or reasonably appropriate, we may provide a general reason and an opportunity to request review.

Termination may result in loss of account access, removal or deactivation of a profile, loss of access to messages or content, cancellation of future service access, and restrictions on creating a replacement account.

Termination does not eliminate obligations or rights that accrued before termination.

Sections that reasonably need to survive termination—including provisions concerning intellectual property, retained content, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, disputes, and general legal terms—will survive.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Roommates Club is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

Roommates Club disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, accuracy, availability, quiet enjoyment, and course of dealing.

Roommates Club does not warrant that the service will always be available, the service will be error-free or secure, applications will be approved, you will receive matches, recommendations will be accurate, another user's information is true, a person is safe or trustworthy, housing is available, a property is lawful or suitable, an arrangement will be successful, or the service will meet every user's expectations.

Roommates Club does not endorse users merely because they have been approved, displayed, recommended, or permitted to use the service.

Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, the disclaimers apply only to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Roommates Club and its members, managers, officers, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect damages, incidental damages, special damages, consequential damages, exemplary or punitive damages, lost profits, lost revenue, lost business opportunities, lost goodwill, loss or corruption of data, or the cost of replacement services.

This limitation applies to claims arising from or relating to your use or inability to use Roommates Club, application or membership decisions, matches or recommendations, user Content, another user's conduct, messages, offline interactions, housing decisions, leases or roommate agreements, payments made outside Roommates Club, property conditions, third-party services, unauthorized account access, and service interruption.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roommates Club's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid directly to Roommates Club during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory and even if Roommates Club was advised that damage was possible.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability to the extent it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence where applicable, death or personal injury where legally protected, or mandatory consumer rights.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Roommates Club and its members, managers, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and affiliates from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your User Content; your unlawful or unauthorized use of Roommates Club; your material breach of these Terms; your infringement of another person's rights; your fraud, misconduct, or misrepresentation; your housing, payment, lease, or roommate arrangement; your violation of applicable law; and your conduct toward another user.

This indemnification does not apply to the extent a claim results from Roommates Club's own unlawful conduct, fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence.

Consumer indemnification obligations apply only to the extent enforceable under the mandatory law governing that consumer.

Before filing a legal claim against Roommates Club, you agree to send a written dispute notice to:

The notice should describe your name and account contact information, the nature of the dispute, the relevant facts, the requested resolution, and supporting documentation reasonably available to you.

You and Roommates Club agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days after receipt of the notice.

This requirement does not prevent either party from seeking emergency or injunctive relief, filing an eligible claim in small-claims court, reporting a matter to a regulator, cooperating with law enforcement, or acting before a legal limitation period expires.

Except where mandatory law provides otherwise, these Terms and any dispute arising from or relating to them are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any legal proceeding may be brought in a court that has lawful jurisdiction over the dispute and the parties.

Nothing in these Terms deprives a consumer of protections, remedies, or access to courts that cannot lawfully be waived under the laws applicable to that consumer.

Roommates Club is operated from the United States and may not be appropriate or legally available in every jurisdiction.

You are responsible for complying with laws applicable to your use of the service.

Roommates Club may limit access in unsupported jurisdictions, restrict particular features by location, require additional terms or notices, modify payment or cancellation rights, comply with local content and platform rules, and suspend availability when legal or operational requirements cannot reasonably be met.

If you are a consumer outside the United States mandatory protections under your local law continue to apply, these Terms do not waive rights that cannot legally be waived, warranty and liability limitations apply only to the extent permitted, local cancellation or refund rights may apply to paid features, local courts or regulators may retain jurisdiction where required, and additional jurisdiction-specific terms may supplement these Terms.

If a conflict exists between these Terms and a mandatory local consumer law, the mandatory local law controls to the minimum extent necessary to resolve that conflict.

Roommates Club may update these Terms to reflect new or changed features, changes to the business, changes to applicable law, security or safety requirements, new payment options, new jurisdictions, changes to moderation, and other operational needs.

Nonmaterial changes may become effective when posted.

If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the website, your account, email, or another appropriate method.

We may require renewed acceptance before you continue using Roommates Club.

Urgent changes required by law, security, fraud prevention, or safety may take effect sooner.

Continued use after the effective date of properly disclosed updated Terms constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Where affirmative consent is legally required, continued use alone will not substitute for that consent.

Previous versions may be requested by contacting us.

Entire agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional terms or policies expressly incorporated into them form the entire agreement between you and Roommates Club concerning the service.

Additional policies

Community Guidelines, Safety Guidelines, payment terms, promotional terms, or other feature-specific rules may supplement these Terms. If they conflict, the more specific terms govern the relevant feature unless they state otherwise.

Severability

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain effective.

No waiver

A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your account or rights under these Terms without our written permission.

Roommates Club may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, corporate restructuring, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable law.

No partnership or agency

These Terms do not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, fiduciary, franchise, brokerage, or agency relationship between you and Roommates Club.

No third-party beneficiaries

Except as expressly stated, these Terms do not create rights for third parties.
